AI Is Here—But So Is the Rise of Skilled Trades

Lately, I’ve seen a growing number of posts and videos from CEOs sounding the alarm: artificial intelligence is set to dramatically reshape the workforce. As a tech business owner, I agree—AI will replace a wide range of positions, especially in office and desk-based roles. What many don’t want to admit is this: the job market won’t necessarily create equivalent white-collar opportunities to replace what’s being lost.
But here's the silver lining—and it might surprise you.
While AI is advancing rapidly, manual and skilled labor jobs are becoming more valuable than ever. “Manual labor” often carries an outdated stigma, but in reality, these are the roles that can’t be easily replaced by automation or AI. In fact, they may soon be the most secure and in-demand professions available.
There is already a massive shortage of trained automotive technicians, aircraft maintenance specialists, welders, plumbers, nurses, and other hands-on professionals. These are not low-wage jobs—they’re often high-paying careers with strong growth prospects. Demand is outpacing supply, and wages are rising accordingly.
So yes—AI is the future. But for many, that future may mean a major career pivot. If you’re not riding the AI wave directly, consider looking into the trades. There’s real opportunity, purpose, and stability in those fields.
It’s time to rethink what “success” and “security” look like in the workforce of tomorrow.
